Apple’s annual WWDC event has always been a moment of curiosity for all Apple fans and IT enthusiasts across the globe. One of Apple’s grand announcements this year is that the macOS will be transformed into macOS Ventura. Well, it’s not the name that will change, and there’s more to explore in the all-new macOS 13 Ventura.

Undoubtedly, macOS 13 Ventura will be packed with amazing features and more compatible with iOS and iPadOS. While the developer beta version is already out in the market, people have to still wait for the entire macOS 13 Ventura to be out on every compatible Mac.

Here, we present macOS 13 Ventura: release date, features, compatible Macs, and more.

macOS 13: What’s the Name?

Apple unveiled that the macOS 13 will be called Ventura. Earlier, there were rumours that the macOS 13 would be named Mammoth. Well, it seems that the Cupertino-giant got inspired by the city of Ventura.

Additionally, Apple didn’t skip the 13th version of macOS and decided to launch iPhone 13 or iOs 13 that very day.

When will Apple Release macOS 13 Ventura?

It’s an overhyped query for any Apple fan out there. Apple brought the macOS 13 Ventura under the limelight during the WWDC’22 event. However, it’s not yet released for all compatible Mac computers.

The developer beta version of the macOS 13 Ventura edition is currently out for tests and trials. On the other hand, the public beta version of macOS 13 will be out in July. However, for ordinary people, Apple hasn’t announced the overall release date of macOS 13.

If you look at the last macOS release date, then macOS Monterey got released on October 25, 2021. Therefore, we can expect almost the same time frame for the worldwide release of macOS 13 Ventura. You can sign up for the public beta version if you want to try out the latest macOS.

Features of macOS 13 Ventura: Talk of the Town

Apple has never disappointed us regarding supported features for any hardware or software. At the WWDC 22 event, Apple discussed what major changes and features would hit the latest addition to the macOS experience. Let’s have a look:

Stage Manager

Continuity will get a step ahead with iPadOS 16, and Stage Manager is the technology. This particular approach is designed to have minimum chaos on your productivity screen. Stage Manager allows users to sort applications into respective groups.

Now, Stage Manager will appear on macOS too. Users can drag and drop files to the sidebar of their Mac computers. Arranging, overlapping, and resizing for definite tasks and applications get simpler with Stage Manager.

Earlier, users had to access the dock hidden at the bottom of the Mac screen. The Stage Manager utility would rather keep the current applications in full view. You can rearrange, switch, or group the applications according to your workspace.

Spotlight

This tool is Apple’s dedicated way to search your Mac computer. If you have been a Spotlight admirer, there’s good news for you. macOS 13 Ventura will have a revamped Spotlight. Ventura will offer Quick Look Quick Actions whenever you run a Spotlight search.

The Spotlight will run an in-depth search and look through your contacts, movies, TV shows, musicians, actors, sports, and businesses. Searching files have never been this fun and innovative.

Moreover, you can now initiate the search for images and videos inside Photos, Notes, Messages, and Finder. Use search parameters such as scenes, the content of images, texts, people, pets, locations, and more.

That’s not the end of the Spotlight capabilities – Users can now start a timer or create a new document simply using the Spotlight.

Continuity Camera

Apple brings endless possibilities to continuity. Do you want to switch your FaceTime call from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac without disrupting the call? It’s now possible with macOS 13 Ventura.

If Mac’s webcam quality is not up to par, you can switch your FaceTime call to your iPhone or iPad from your Mac. This is a FaceTime Hand-off feature in practice. Undoubtedly, you’ll look better with the continuity feature. And, the best part is that you don’t have to disconnect and reconnect the call.

However, the Continuity camera has built-in features to make you look better during FaceTime calls. The FaceTime call looked amazing while demonstrating the Continuity Camera in WWDC 22. The Studio Light feature will artificially dim your background and brighten your face.

Additionally, Desk View will be there to capture your desk view. You can switch your camera between your face and your desk. Moreover, iPhone users can also benefit from Center Stage. Make sure that the iPhone should support iOS 16, and the Mac computer should have macOS 13 Ventura installed for the Continuity Camera experience.

More Sophisticated System Preferences

System Preferences is the go-to option for any Mac user. Additionally, we hardly ever noticed major changes to Mac’s System Preferences. However, Apple has finally decided to spice up System Preferences through Ventura. Streamlining applications has become the motto with macOS 13.

System Preferences will be renamed to System Settings. In addition, it will have an identical design present in an iPadOS. System Settings will have a sidebar with different settings layout.

Besides this, navigation becomes easier within System Settings, and it has categories such as Control Center, Appearance, and Desktop. It still has a Search icon to help you out with a seamless search.

Clock & Weather

Applications that tend to stay with iOS from the beginning have started appearing on macOS. Clock and Weather will be arriving on macOS 13 Ventura. iPadOS 16 will receive the same redesigned Weather app just like macOS Ventura.

Get animated weather backgrounds that display your location’s current weather on your Mac. Additionally, the Weather app will feature weather forecasts, rainfall predictions, air quality indexes, UV indexes, sunset information, etc. It’s more like an iOS Weather app on your Mac device with macOS Ventura.

Users can now ask Siri to set alarms or manually set the alarm inside the Clock application. You can even ask Siri to start a timer. Siri will respond to your clock-related commands like an iPhone or iPad. Additionally, you will get easily accessible widgets for Clock and Weather applications on macOS Ventura.

Mail

Besides Clock and Weather system app updates, Mail is another beneficial app from macOS Ventura. Apple is bringing improved search to the overall Mail application. Search will provide you with better results. It can even anticipate what you will look for in the Mail application.

In addition, you can undo a send within 10 seconds from sending the email if it has an error. Apple surprises us with a brand-new feature called ‘Remind Me’. This will remind you to reply to an important email when you can’t reply to an email currently.

Messages

iMessages have always been an in-built option for iOS users for communicating with others. Since iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 are getting updated Message features, Apple couldn’t discard the same on macOS Ventura.

Is there an opportunity to edit your message after sending it? Yes, with the new macOS upgrade, you have users who can edit sent messages. In addition, you can even now undo sending a message and send it after rectifying it. However, there’s a 15-minute window for editing and undoing send.

Interestingly, you can now initiate sharePlay through Message. Thus, you don’t have to necessarily use FaceTime for SharePlay.

Safari

Safari is the universal web browser for any Apple product such as Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc. Last year, we manifested huge and appreciable changes in Safari. Tab groups were one of the best improvements in 2021. This year, Safari will offer you Shared Tab groups that allow you to share your web browser tabs with friends and family.

How will the Shared Tab group benefit you? You can share your search results with your friends and family when planning any purchase or a holiday together. Moreover, Passkeys will be an amazing feature for sign-in purposes. On-device authentication methods are easier with Apple’s Passkeys. You need not type a password in public. Instead, you can use Touch or Face ID to enter the respective website.

Apple is ensuring more users can use Passkeys even though they don’t use Apple devices. Currently, Apple is working with Google and Microsoft, other members of the FIDO Alliance. Therefore, users can utilise Passkeys on other devices while signing into websites.

Passkeys now sync among all the iCloud-enabled devices. This means that users don’t have to necessarily save their credentials on different devices to access Passkeys.

Freeform

This new feature will appear on iPad and Macs in 2022. Freeform will permit users to brainstorm or plan projects and share them with friends. Apart from sharing files and documents, you can share web links, video, audio, and much more for real-time collaboration.

Photos

Syncing between all your Apple devices has become more feasible. Like Messages updates, Photos updates hit iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The iCloud Shared Photo Library feature lets you share videos and images with up to five people. Collaborating on a particular album and making real-time changes is possible with the Photos updates. The same applies to adding, deleting, and editing photos, along with Smart suggestions.

Gaming

Apple has never declared any Mac device, particularly a gaming device. However, with the launch of the macOS 13 Ventura, Apple will release a brand new edition of Metal and Metal 3. These additional gaming engines will improve Macs’ Apple Silicon chips to be more compatible with AAA gaming titles.

EA’s GRID Legends and Capcom’s Resident Evil Village are a few AAA titles available on Apple Silicon Macs. Currently, we are looking forward to what developers are capable of utilising Metal 3. MetalFX Fast Resource and Upscaling will definitely help developers.

macOS 13 Ventura: Supported Mac Computers

macOS 13 Ventura will be free for all the compatible Mac computers in the market. It’s a free upgrade, but you need to keep in mind that it’s only for Apple-listed devices. Apple has included the following Macs for an upgrade to macOS Ventura from macOS Monterey:
